  • Division 2 Eagles Finish 7-2.
  • The New Windsor Division 2 Eagles got knocked out of the playoffs by the "Big Ten" Conference Champion Minisink Valley Green last Sunday, November 7, at Minisink Valley's Warrior Field. The Eagles finished the season with a strong and respectable 7-2 record.
  • The Eagles took a devastating blow (26-8) as the finely polished Minisink Green team nearly controlled them throughout the game and shut them down to only 76 yards of offense in 36 plays. The Offensive Line combination of Robert Malcolm, Gary Buxton, Aaron Moore, Jon Denton, Mikal Myers, Chris Morino, Nick Antonucci, and Vinny Antonucci struggled in the trenches throughout the day. Minisink also did great job controlling the strong Eagle running backs that totaled nearly 2,000 yards and 208 points during the season; Shivaughn Wiggins (767 total yards) and Tom Schlett (500 total yards) could only muster 29 total combined yards during the game. The Eagles turned to the air game with Quarterback Tom Starkey when they were simply shutdown on the ground, Sean Noble led the Eagles best effort catching passes for 29 total yards; Jimmy May, Anthony Petutis, and Joe White also caught a few more to get the Eagles most of their positive yardage. Myers would pound in a 6-yard run for the only Eagles touchdown of game; Denton posted the final score of the season with a 2-point conversion in the heavy winds.
  • The Eagle Defense held their first 8 opponents to 2 touchdowns and 394 yards during the entire season, but this game they slowly crumbled as the giant Minisink Offense kept them out on the field for 60 plays, gained 215 yards, and scored 26 points. Despite causing 6 fumbles and recovering 4, the Eagle Defense simply could not turn over good field position to the offense. Even though Malcolm (4 Tackles) had one of his best efforts of the year at nose tackle, the stats would prove he was alone at the point of attack; the Eagle Defensive Line, Gary Buxton, Ramon Rodriguez, Pat Mullins, Mikey Antonucci, N. Antonucci, and V. Antonucci, could not mount a consistent and steady attack. The Defensive Ends, May (3 Tackles) and Petutis (2.5 Tackles) continued to press and contain, but would struggle with Minisink's double and triple reverses. The Linebacking crew, Denton (6.5 Tackles and Fumble Recovery), Myers (5 Tackles), Schlett (2.5 Tackles and Fumble Recovery), Morino (Fumble Recovery), White, and Alex Hansen, were forced to take on and shed lead blockers nearly the entire game and the Defensive Backs, Starkey (5 Tackles), Wiggins (3 Tackles), Jaron Mosey, Noble, and Tevin Simmons, were hot and cold throughout the game. • Head Coach Jim May would like to thank his staff and players for being the best in the game. Defensive Coordinator Don Starkey took the time out to learn the defensive scheme and to motivate the defense to 5 shutouts for the year. Line Coaches John Petutis and Mike Antonucci took on the team's largest deficiency and proved to find successful fixes. John also successfully tackled the toughest job on the sideline, he ensured every player got their minimum plays during each game; although it doesn't sound difficult or hard, it's very important and can lead to a forfeit of a game if not properly done. Assistant Offensive Coordinator Gary Jeter brought a wealth of knowledge to the team and kept the entire team motivated throughout the season. Despite already having his plate full as league president, Assistant Coach Bruce Malcolm filled in every coaching void we had throughout the year. Trainer and Statistician Andy Morino consistently recorded each play, as did Videoman Bob Mullins and Photographer Dave Levy. The New Windsor Staff and Chain Gang (Buxton, Denton, Hansen, Rodriguez, and Wiggins) was always ready, willing, and able to support the teams needs. To the parents and the New Windsor Cheerleaders who cheered us through 9 games, you were definitely the best in Orange County.
  • Parents and Players are reminded to coordinate with the Head Coach for gear turn-in and the New Windsor Youth Football and Cheerleading Banquet on Monday, December 6, from 6-10 pm at Anthony's Pier 9.

041031 New Windsor vs Chester Cougars

  • Division 2 Eagles Shutout Cougars to Advance to Playoffs.
  • The Division 2 New Windsor Eagles shutout the Chester Cougars (27-0) on the road for final game of the regular season on Sunday, October 31, for their fourth consecutive and fifth overall shutout of the year. The game proved the Eagles are truly deserving and ready for post-season play with the offense charging for nearly 300 yards and the defense holding the Cougars to only 67 yards in nearly 50 attempts.
  • The Eagle Defense has dominated 8 teams this year; the defense has only given up 2 touchdowns for the entire season. They have continued to starve their opponents, cause countless loose balls, and recovered the ball 25 times. The Cougars attempted to pound the ball and use their crisp ball control and illusive counter plays, but Mikal Myers (10.5 Tackles), Shivaughn Wiggins (6.5 Tackles and Fumble Recovery), Tom Schlett (5.5 Tackles), Jon Denton (5 Tackles), Tom Starkey (4.5 Tackles and Fumble Recovery), Jimmy May (2.5 Tackles), Anthony Petutis, Alex Hansen, Chris Morino, and Joe White would prove to be fully capable of clogging up the middle and staying home on the outside. Defensive Tackles Gary Buxton (2 Tackles), Robert Malcolm, Ramon Rodriguez, Pat Mullins, George Christoforidis and the "Nuch" Brothers (Nick, Mikey, and Vinny Antonucci) consistently stood up the offensive line and filled the holes allowing the linebackers to have a field day. Defensive Backs Sean Noble (Batted Down 3 Balls), Jaron Mosley, and Tevin Simmons were ready when the Cougars attempted to launch several well-executed air strikes. Click to Enlarge...
  • The Offensive Line, made up of Malcolm, Buxton, Christoforidis, Denton, Myers, White, Morino, Petutis, Mullins, and Aaron Moore, put up a great battle as they faced one of the largest defensive fronts in the division. Schlett opened the game up on the very first play with a 43-yard touchdown reception from Starkey. Soon after, Wiggins advanced a 25-yard punt return to setup a Schlett touchdown run and Nick Antonucci posted the extra point on a powerful run up the middle. Schlett scored his third of the game on an unanswered 47-yard run up the middle; Denton pounded a strong kick for the 2-point conversion. The Eagle Defense held the Cougars to three and out, after a strong Eagle drive that fell just short, and setup a 39-yard touchdown run by Wiggins that ended the scoring blitz for the day. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 182 to 22 and gained nearly 2,000 yards during the regular season.
  • The Eagles are fully prepared, healthy, and ready to advance to the playoffs and face the number one seeded Minisink Valley Green. Both teams finished with a 7-1 record in the OCYFL Division 2 "Big 10" Conference, but a tight seeding process has placed the Eagles in the fourth seed due to a common opponent loss to the Middletown Middies that became the deciding factor.
  • The Eagle Cheerleading Squad provided enthusiastic support to the players and kept the fans entertained at one of the most exciting games of the season. The Eagles will travel to Minisink Valley to face MV Green this Sunday, November 7, at 1:00 pm. Come out and show your support as the Division 2 Eagles embark on the road to the 2004 OCYFL Super Bowl.

041024 Bye Week

  • Division 2 Eagles Prepare for Battle During Bye Week.
  • The Division 2 New Windsor Eagles, made up of 6 returning 2003 Super Bowl Champions, took advantage of a late season bye-week to prepare for a major battle against the Chester Cougars. The Orange County Youth Football League (OCYFL) Division 2, made up of 25 teams in 2 conferences, advances the top 4 teams from each conference to post season play where they face-off in a 2-round battle to advance to the OCYFL Super Bowl. The tight standings of the OCYFL Division 2 "Big Ten" Conference has placed 6 teams in contention for the 4 playoff slots right up to the final game of the season. Despite the Eagles strong record (6-1), they will face a tested Chester (5-2) team for the final game of the regular season in a winner take all contest that will advance only the winner into post season play. Although Chester is coming off a devastating loss (14-12) against the Middletown Middes, the same team that gave the Eagles their only loss (0-6) of the season, they will defiantly be pumped up with the home field advantage for the final regular season contest. Click to Enlarge...
  • The Eagles, led by Head Coach Jim May, Assistant Coaches Mike Antonucci, Gary Jeter, Bruce Malcolm, John Petutis, Don Starkey, and Trainer Andy Morino, have built an illusive multi-look defense that relies on good old fashion hard hitting. For the season, the Eagle Defense has suffocated 7 offenses to a total of barely 300 yards in a 189 plays, only given up 2 touchdowns, held 5 defensive shutouts, and has even scored 18 points. The all-new Eagle Offense, focusing on teamwork, has also posted dominating numbers with scoring 155 points and gaining nearly 1,600 yards spread among 16 different players. The most dominating factor of any championship team is ball control; the Eagles lead the way with a 1:23 give-take ratio. The bone-crushing Eagle Defense has forced countless fumbles, recovered 17, and intercepted 6. This lethal combination should take the Eagles into post-season play as they control their own destiny with each coming week.
  • The New Windsor Division 2 Eagles, #2 Pat Mullins, #4 Tom Starkey, #6 Jimmy May, #7 Jaron Mosley, #8 Anthony Petutis, #12 Joe White, #15 Ramon Rodriguez, #25 Tevin Simmons, #27 Nick Antonucci, #30 Jon Denton, #31 Vinny Antonucci, #33 Shivaughn Wiggins, #38 Mikey Antonucci, #40 Chris Morino, #46 Aaron Moore, #47 Tom Schlett, #48 Alex Hansen, #55 George Christoforidis, #56 Mikal Myers, #78 Gary Buxton, #81 Sean Noble, and #99 Robert Malcolm, would like to thank their Cheerleading Squad, led by Cheerleading Director Amy Bedetti, and the support from their parents, families, and friends; without you it's just a game. Also a big thanks to our chain gang, our League Photographer Dave Levy, all the other volunteers behind the scenes, and the Town of New Windsor that simply provides the best facilities in the league.
  • The Eagles will charge up for the final regular season game of the year, so come out and show your support as they attempt to earn post-season birth into the playoffs. Please note that a recent schedule change has moved the Chester game up to 1:00 pm start time on Sunday, October 31, at Chester Commons (Laroe Road, Route 45, entrance near the Chester Highway Department).

041017 - New Windsor vs Washingtonville Bulldogs

  • Division 2 Eagles Take a Bite Out of the Bulldogs 23-0.
  • The New Windsor Eagles Division 2 took a bite out of their neighboring rival Washingtonville Bulldogs (23-0) at Mount Airy Sports Complex, Sunday, October 17, for their fourth defensive shutout of the year.
  • The Eagle Defense was at full force again; they have continued to suffocate 7 teams to just over 300 yards of total offense and only 2 touchdowns for the season. Injured reserve Running Back Jaron Mosley, honorary game captain, gave his full support by starting it out with a winning coin toss. Defensive Tackles Gary Buxton (4 Tackles, Fumble Recovery), Robert Malcolm (3 Tackles, Fumble Recovery), Ramon Rodriguez, Mikey Antonucci, Nick Antonucci, Vinny Antonucci, Pat Mullins, and George Christoforidis devastated the middle on nearly every play. Malcolm forced 4 fumbles for the day and took turns with Buxton forcing each other's recovery. Defensive Ends Jimmy May (3.5 Tackles, Punt Block, Sack), Anthony Petutis, and Tom Starkey pressed the ends and contained the Bulldog running backs throughout the day. Shivaughn Wiggins (5 Tackles) led Defensive Backs Sean Noble, Tevin Simmons, and Aaron Moore as they would attempt to maintain their patients and pick up any scraps from the Linebacking crew of Tom Schlett (5 Tackles), Jon Denton (4 Tackles), Mikal Myers (2.5 Tackles), Alex Hansen, Chris Morino, and Joe White as they continued to search and destroy any Bulldogs that wondered astray. The Eagles only allowed the Bulldogs 39 yards of offense on 33 attempts. The multi-look hard-hitting Eagle Defense continues to confuse opponent offenses and continuously knock the ball loose (17 fumble recoveries for the season). Click to Enlarge...
  • Wiggins led off the scoring with a 47-yard touchdown run when he literally ran right out of his shoes; May posted the extra point. May's sack and blocked punt setup the Eagles with great field position to allow Starkey and the Offensive Line, led by Malcolm, Moore, Christoforidis, Buxton, Denton, Myers, Petutis, White, and Morino to fire up the air game with White leading the way on a critical third down catch. Wiggins would pound in the second touchdown with Denton converting the 2-point kick. Malcolm's fumble recovery, on the next Bulldog series, would seal the victory as Starkey fired a strike to Schlett on the very next play for the final touchdown and Denton posted another 2-point kick. May led the Offense for the second half with a 50-yard keeper and throwing 2 of 2 to Noble and Schlett, but the Eagles would fall just short of scoring on each series. The Eagles would end the game with an impressive 8.1 yards per attempt.
  • Providing Enthusiastic support for the players were the outstanding New Windsor Eagle Division 2 Cheerleaders, parents, and friends. The Division 2 Eagles and Cheerleaders will be on a bye this weekend as they get charged up for the final game of the season. Despite the Eagles' outstanding record (6-1) and strong season, the final game against Chester will be a playoff contention game with the winner taking all. Please note that a recent schedule change has moved the game up to 1:00 pm start time on Sunday, October 31, at Chester Commons (Laroe Road, Route 45, entrance near the Chester Highway Department).

041010 - New Windsor vs Wallkill Panther Pride

  • Division 2 Eagles Cage Panthers 27-0.
  • The New Windsor Eagles Division 2 caged the Wallkill Panthers (27-0) at Mount Airy Sports Complex, Sunday, October 10, for their third shutout of the year.
  • The bone-crushing Eagle Defense has only given up 2 touchdowns in 6 games, but the show this week was the Eagle Offense. The Offensive Line, led by Robert Malcolm, Aaron Moore, George Christoforidis, Gary Buxton, Jon Denton, Mikal Myers, Anthony Petutis, Joe White, and Chris Morino, provided timely protection to allow Tom Starkey enough time to post 64 yards in the air for 3 touchdowns. Tom Schlett led it off with a 13-yard touchdown reception and Shivaughn Wiggins, with a 12-yard rushing average for the day, answered right back on the next drive with a devastating 52-yard touchdown run, Starkey converted the extra point. Only 3 plays later, Schlett caught another 27-yard touchdown pass, with the 2-point conversion by Denton. Starkey finished the air show off with two quick passes to Jimmy May, 17 and 7-yards, for the final touchdown of the game. Jimmy May would lead the second Offense for the fourth quarter with help from running backs Denton, Moore, Petutis, and Tight Ends Alex Hansen and Ramon Rodriguez. Click to Enlarge...
  • Defensive Tackle Robert Malcolm (3.5 Tackles and 2 Fumble Recoveries) simply devastated the middle all day with support from fellow Defensive Linemen Mikey Antonucci, Nick Antonucci, Vinny Antonucci, Pat Mullins, Buxton, May (Fumble Recovery), Petutis, and Rodriguez. The Defensive Line continuously picked apart the Panthers leaving unguarded running backs to be eaten up by the Linebacking crew of Denton (4 Tackles), Schlett (3.5 Tackles), Hansen, Morino, White, and Super Bowl Champ Myers (3.5 Tackles). The hard hitting secondary of Sean Noble, Tevin Simmons, Moore, and Wiggins would not get many hits, but were critical in maintaining the shutout by batting down 4 passes as the Panthers attempted to go to the air for a last minute effort to get on the board. The hard-hitting Eagle Defense continues to set the pace for each game, they have caused countless loose balls, recovering 15, snatched up 6 interceptions, and scored 18 points for the season.
  • Under the leadership and expertise of the cheerleading staff of Gina Bedetti, Megan Byrnes, Alyssa Kiernan, and Julie Steele, the Division 2 Cheerleading Squad has continued to entertain and lead the fans through a remarkable season. The Division 2 Eagles look forward to the return of running back Jaron Mosley this week as they go head to head against their neighboring rival Washingtonville Bulldogs this Sunday, October 17, at 1:00 pm at New Windsor's Mount Airy Sports Complex.

041003 - New Windsor vs Pinebush
  • Division 2 Eagles Suffocate Pinebush 33-0.
  • The New Windsor Eagles Division 2 suffocated Pinebush (33-0) on the road, Sunday, October 3, for their second shutout of the year.
  • The Defense, led by the Linebacking crew of Mikal Myers (3 Tackles & Fumble Recovery), Jon Denton (2.5 Tackles), Tom Schlett (39-Yard Interception Return), and Alex Hansen, was simply overwhelming for the Pinebush Offense. The mixture of the multi-look Eagle Defense would prove to be lethal. Combined with the efforts of the Defensive Line; DT-Ramon Rodriguez (2 Tackles) DT-Robert Malcolm, DT, Gary Buxton, DT-Mikey Antonucci, DT-Nick Antonucci, DT-Vinny Antonucci, DT-Pat Mullins, DT-George Christoforidis, DE-Jimmy May, DE-Anthony Petutis, DE-Tom Starkey; and the Defensive Backfield; CB-Aaron Moore, S-Jaron Mosley, S-Sean Noble, S-Tevin Simmons, CB-Shivaughn Wiggins (Fumble Recovery); in 21 attempts against the Pinebush Offense, they drove them backwards -38 yards. Second Linebackers Chris Morino and Joe White also got significant penetration and assisted on several team tackles.
  • The Eagles would get on the scoreboard with only their second offensive play with a 30-yard touchdown run by RB-Schlett. The Offense, at the helm of QB-Starkey, would struggle a little on their 2nd and 3rd drives as they attempted to mix in the passing game. Sensing the need to get more points on the board, the Offensive Line, C-Malcolm, G-Buxton, G-Christoforidis, G-Moore, G-Mullins, T-Denton, T-Myers, TE-White, TE-Morino, and TE-Petutis, stepped it up a notch by generating 4 touchdowns in the next 8 plays. CB-Wiggins' Fumble Recovery setup himself up for a 19-yard touchdown run, RB-Mosley tacked on the extra point. The scoring blitz continued with a 65-yard run by RB-Wiggins and a two-point conversion by K-Denton. LB-Schlett's interception setup a 1st and goal and allowed the 2nd offense to jump in with a quick 3-yard touchdown run by QB-May. RB-Moore would tack on the final points of the day with a powerful 43-yard run.
  • A strong on-the-road turnout by fans and cheerleaders kept the Eagles pumped the entire game. The Cheerleaders were led by Mackenzie Bousche, Ashley Byrd, Kathryn Byrnes, Theresa Dowd, Jasmine Garcia, and Kandra Toro. The Division 2 Eagles will host the powerful Wallkill Panther Pride this Sunday, October 10, at 1:00 pm at New Windsor's Mount Airy Sports Complex.

040926 - New Windsor vs Cornwall Green

  • New Windsor Eagles Cruise by Undefeated Cornwall Green.
  • The New Windsor Eagles Division 2 advance their record to 3-1 after cruising by the undefeated Cornwall Green Dragons (32-8) on, Sunday, September 26 at New Windsor's Mount Airy Sports Complex.
  • Both teams would feel each other out through the first quarter, but the Eagles were slowing gaining valuable field position. RB-Shivaughn Wiggins would open up the second quarter with a 49-yard touchdown run and the Dragons would answer right back with a short touchdown pass and a 2-point conversion. With only 50 seconds left in the half, the Eagles Offensive Line, led by C-Robert Malcolm, G-Pat Mullins, G-George Christoforidis, T-Jon Denton, T-Mikal Myers, TE's Chris Morino, Anthony Petutis, and Joe White, gave a solid attempt, but would fall short in getting the lead back.
  • The Eagles started the second half with a solid 10 play drive that resulted in a RB-Tom Schlett 18-yard touchdown run. The Eagles Defensive, LB-Myers (5.5 Tackles), LB-Denton, LB-Schlett (2.5 Tackles), LB-Alex Hansen, DE-Jimmy May (2 Tackles), DE-Petutis, DT-Mikey Antonucci, DT-Nick Antonucci, DT-Vinny Antonucci, DT-Gary Buxton, DT-Malcolm, DT-Ramon Rodriguez, CB-Wiggins (2.5 Tackles), CB-Aaron Moore (2.5 Tackles), S-Jaron Mosley, S-Tevin Simmons, stepped in up in the second half by capitalizing on several critical plays and giving up only 15 yards. The Dragon's would attempt to mount 5 offensive drives that would each end with devastating results; Drive 1 - Fumble recovery by DE-May, Drive 2 - 45-yard touchdown punt return by CB-Wiggins and extra point conversion by RB-Sean Noble, Drive 3 - 39-yard touchdown interception return by LB-Schlett and extra point conversion by RB-May, Drive 4 - Fumble recovery by CB-Wiggins, and Drive 5 - Fumble for a considerable loss. Click to Enlarge...
  • When the Eagle Defense would give them a chance in the second half, the Offense, led by QB-Tom Starkey, was also explosive with two more drives that led to a 1-yard touchdown run by RB-Myers. The Eagle Offense would post a strong 258 yards in 41 plays against the undefeated Dragon's Defense. The hard-hitting Eagle Defense has recovered and astounding 9 fumble recoveries, 5 interceptions, scored 18 points, and only given up 2 touchdowns for the season.
  • As always, the New Windsor Eagles Cheerleaders performed incredibly difficult routines while keeping the fans entertained and cheering their Eagles to victory. Emily Bonnabeau, Elizabeth Carr, Kristina Lucchesi, Allison Marshall, and Julianne Scheck led the Cheerleaders this week. The team goes back on the road this week to Pinebush's new field at the Town of Crawford Park (Lybolt Rd near the intersection of Rt 17K and Rt 302) on Sunday, October 3rd, at 3:00 pm.

040919 - New Windsor vs Highland Falls
  • Division 2 Eagles Blowout Highland Falls, 33-0
  • The New Windsor Eagles Division 2 Football Team pushed their record to 2-1 by defeating Highland Falls Iroquois (33-0) on, Sunday, September 19 at West Point's Shea Stadium. Against Highland Falls, the Eagle Defense would only give up an astonishing 5-yards on 29 attempts. The intense Defense led by LB-Mikal Myers (12 Season Tackles) and LB-Jon Denton (9 Season Tackles) has only given up one touchdown for the season. RB-Tom Schlett opened it up for the Eagles on their very first attempt with a 32-yard touchdown run; the point after attempt was made by RB-Jimmy May. The next Iroquois drive would end on an interception and touchdown return (32-yards) by DB-Shivaughn Wiggins; Schlett tacked on the extra point conversion. Within the next 3 offensive plays, RB-Wiggins would post 2 more touchdowns.
  • The Offensive Line, led by C-Robert Malcolm, G-Gary Buxton, G-George Christoforidis, G-Aaron Moore, T-Jon Denton, T-Mikal Myers, TE-Chris Morino, TE-Anthony Petutis, TE-Joe White, made a fresh appearance after a fair showing at last weeks Middies game. The Eagles strong 1st half showing would force QB-Tom Starkey to leave the offensive side of the ball after only taking 7 snaps. Myers would also mark up the board with a point after attempt on one of Wiggins' touchdowns, and would also get one of his own on a 37-yard run that would end the Eagles scoring blitz. QB's May and Petitus with the support of C-White, G-Pat Mullins, T-Nick Antonucci, and T-Vinny Antonucci would host the team as they would each take a stab at the running back position in the second half. The Eagle offense would end the day with an impressive 9.3 average per carry.
  • The Eagle Defense, as usual, was suffocating; CB-Wiggins would lead the day with 4.5 Tackles and 2 Interceptions. The Defensive Linemen were just getting too much penetration for the Iroquois offense to run any play effectively, they were led by NT-Malcolm, DT-Ramon Rodriguez (2 Tackles), DT-Buxton (Fumble Recovery), DE-May (Fumble Recovery), DE-Petitus, DE-Tom Starkey. The Defensive Line was amplified by the strong play of DT-Mullins (1.5 Tackles), DT-Mikey Antonucci, DT-N. Antonucci, and DT-V. Antonucci. The Linebacking and Defensive Back crew of LB-Alex Hansen (2.5 Tackles), LB-Morino, LB-Schlett, LB-White, DB-Moore, DB-Sean Noble, and DB-Tevin Simmons, were ready when the Iroquois attempted to launch a second half aerial attack.
  • Mandie Bedetti, Victoria Carlone, Kristin Nolan, Julie Rolfs, and Tyler Trifilo led the New Windsor Cheerleaders as they did a great job entertaining the fans and cheering their Eagles to victory. Next up for the Eagles is a strong and undefeated Cornwall Green (3-0) on, Sunday, September 26 at 1:00 pm at New Windsor's Mount Airy Sports Complex.

040912 - New Windsor vs Middletown Middies
  • Eagles Clipped by Middies.
  • The New Windsor Division 2 Eagles got clipped at Middletown (6-0) on Sunday, September 12th, during a defensive battle that was decided by a single special teams play.
  • The Eagle defense, led this week by CB-Shivaughn Wiggins (3 Tackles), LB-Mikal Myers (2.5 Tackles), LB-Alex Hansen (2.5 Tackles), LB-Jon Denton (2 Tackles, 2 fumble recoveries), Tom Schlett (2 Tackles), and DE-Anthony Petutis (Interception), impressively held the Middies to 37 yards on 23 attempts. The defensive line, NT-Robert Malcolm, DT-Gary Buxton, DT-Ramon Rodriguez, DT-Michael Antonucci, and DE-Jimmy May, fearlessly battled the trenches throughout the game. The Middies passing game was non-existent with the defensive back field play of CB-Aaron Moore, S-Jaron Mosley, SS-Sean Noble, FS-Tevin Simmons.
  • Despite the additional help of offensive linemen G-Pat Mullins, T-Nick Antonucci, T-Vinny Antonucci, T-George Christoforidis, TE-Chris Morino, and TE-Joe White, the offensive line of the Eagles would also struggle against a strong veteran defense. Regardless of the struggle in the trenches, the offensive backs led by QB-Tom Starkey, RB-Shivaughn Wiggins, RB-Jimmy May, and RB-Tom Schlett, would valiantly post 109 yards on 40 attempts.
  • Although Tom Starkey was having his best punting game ever, the game was decided when the Eagle's had a poor showing on a perfect coffin corner punt. The Middies fielded the ball, cornered at their own 2-yard line, and took in strait down the sideline for the only score of the game.
  • The Eagles Cheerleading Squad, led by Mascot Precious Walker, Kristy Byrnes, Gianna Papa, Stephanie Spellman, and Shannon Zaloga, kept the fans pumped the entire game.
  • The Division 2 Eagles and Cheerleaders travel to Highland Falls (Shea Stadium, West Point) this Sunday, September 19th, at 1:00 pm, to match up against the Highland Falls Iroquois.

040905 - New Windsor vs Newburgh White

  • New Windsor Eagles Soar over the Newburgh Giants.
  • The Division 2 New Windsor Eagles came together as a team and soared over the Newburgh Giants (25-8) on Sunday, September 4th, for the season opener at Mount Airy Sports Complex. The season opener matched up both undefeated Division 1 Conference Championship teams from 2003.
  • The Eagles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead with a touchdown from RB-Tom Schlett and an extra point by RB-Shivaugn Wiggins. On their next drive, the Eagles Offensive Linemen (C-Robert Malcolm, G-Gary Buxton, G-Aaron Moore, T-Jon Denton, T-Mikal Myers, TE-Anthony Petutis, TE-Chris Morino, TE-Joe White) impressively drove thirteen plays down to the Giants red-zone.
  • The Eagle Defense would force the Giants three and out on their next series, allowing another unanswered touchdown by RB-Jimmy May. The Eagle offense, at the helm of QB-Tom Starkey, continued to drive and pass the ball at will. Eagles rookie RB-Jaron Mosley debuted an impressive first start, falling just short of a touchdown run on the next drive. The Giants posted their only touchdown (2-Point Kick) just at the end of the first half that ended 13-8. Click to Enlarge...
  • The New Windsor Defense never looked back, they would only give up 25 yard in the entire second half. Leading the Eagle Defense was LB-Mikal Myers (5.5 Tackles), CB-Aaron Moore (4 Tackles, 2 Fumble Recoveries), LB-Tom Schlett (Interception), and DE-Jimmy May (Fumble Recovery). Defensive specialists LB-Alex Hansen, DT-Ramon Rodriguez, DT-Mikey Antonucci, S-Tevin Simmons, were outstanding on several team tackles. C-Joe White, G-Pat Mullins, G-George Christoforidis, T-Nick Antonucci, and T-Vinny Antonucci augmented the offensive line to help propel RB-Tom Schlett for a second touchdown run and gave plenty of time for a touchdown pass to RB-Shivaugn Wiggins.
  • The Eagle Cheerleaders worked diligently in cheering the team to a season opening victory (25-8).
  • The Division 2 Eagles will go on the road for the next two weeks. Their next opponent will be the Middletown Middies, who also posted a decisive season opening victory (40-0) over Pinebush.
  • The team looks forward to everyone's support at their next game at Watts Field in Middletown on Sunday, September 12, at 1:00 pm.
